CESS and Graduate School Hold ICYES 2021

[cess.unpad.ac.id, 07/10/2021] Center for Excellence in Higher Education Science and Technology Center for Environment and Sustainability Science (CESS) strives to continuously disseminate various information that is closely related to the environment and sustainability. After successfully holding the 4th Conference on Sustainability Science (CSS) in 2020, and successfully holding the Tetragonu-Lity ​​International Workshop in early 2021, currently PUI-PT CESS has completed the International Colloquium on Youth Environment and Sustainability (ICYES) event. 2021. ICYES 2021 carries the theme “Youths’ roles for sustainable environment and lifestyle” which will be held online using the Zoom meeting and Live on Youtube platform on Thursday, October 7, 2021. The purpose of this ICYES event is to discuss the roles and challenges of the young generation in creating environmental sustainability that is relevant to today’s lifestyle

The event started with singing the national anthem Indonesia Raya which was then followed by remarks from the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Universitas Padjadjaran Prof. Dr. Hendarmawan., M.Sc. Interestingly, at the ICYES 2021 implementation, the participants were given art performance entertainment by playing a music video from the Krakatau band entitled “This is the Time”. The song is in accordance with the theme of the event, which is about efforts to raise awareness for all of us to return to protecting the earth.

The Plenary Session was divided into 2 sessions moderated by Dika Supyandi., M.T., MDP. The first session started with a presentation from Keynote Speaker Osamu., Ph.D with the theme “Sustainability Science and Early Career Researcher”. Then in the second session there were 4 invited speakers as follows:

  • Prof. Sunardi, Ph.D. with the theme “Spirituality, Religion and Sustainability”
  • Deepak Kumar Verma, Ph.D. with the theme “Importance and Benefits of Rice in Sustainable Livelihood for Human”
  • Prof. Anicia Jaegler, Ph.D. with the theme “Towards a Greener and more Gender-Friendly Urban Logistics”
  • Roy Huijsmans, Ph.D. with the theme “The Environment and The University: Reflection Based on Global Youth Researcher”

ICYES 2021 also opens participants’ participation to present research results orally and posters on various issues, including:

  1. Sustainable Health, Livelihood and Well Being
  2. Sustainable Rural-Urban Linked, Equity and Equality
  3. Sustainable Industry, SME’s, Transportation, and Supply Chain
  4. Sustainable Governance, Business, and Policy
  5. Sustainability of Indigenous Knowledge, Spirituality, and Gender
  6. Climate Change, Resilience and Adaptation
  7. Environmental Vulnerability, Hazard and Disaster
  8. Sustainability on Digitalisation
  9. Communication in Sustainability
  10. Environmental Education
  11. Biodiversity and Conservation
  12. Sustainable Agriculture, Tenure and Food Security
  13. Renewable and Clean Energy

The event was then closed after all participants presented their research results at the Parallel Session. The holding of the ICYES 2021 event adds to the role of PUI-PT CESS which consistently continues to carry out efforts to disseminate knowledge and disseminate research results. Even in the unfinished condition of the Covid-19 pandemic, it does not become an obstacle for holding international conferences. Until the end of the event, there were 300 participants in the ICYES 2021 event. The next plan for ICYES will be every 2 years.
