National Workshop of Stingless Bee Cultivator Community

[cess.unpad.ac.id, 20/11/2021] The number of stingless bee cultivators has been increasing in recent years. On the one hand, this development is a positive response from natural bee collectors (pebolang) who have turned into cultivators so that the availability of bees in nature can be maintained. On the one hand, it is necessary to increase the knowledge of bee cultivators in cultivating so that their success rate increases.

In response to the desire of stingless bee cultivators to improve the quality and quantity of bee-cultivated colonies, PUIPT CESS organized a national workshop for the bee cultivator community in practicing beekeeping on 20 November 2021. The speaker in this national workshop was Prof. Parikesit, M.Sc., Ph.D with the moderator of this activity is Mr. Nurdiana as one of the activists of stingless bee cultivation in Sumedang.

This event was attended by more than 100 participants of stingless bee cultivators throughout Indonesia. The holding of this workshop is part of the ITMoB eAsia research activity which is a collaboration between CESS Unpad and IGES Japan and UPLB Philippines. Bee cultivator is one of the traditional bioproduction systems which is one of the studies in the research. With this national workshop for the bee cultivator community, it is hoped that the bee cultivator’s bioproduction system will become one of the traditional sustainable bioproduction systems in Indonesia.
